For people living with HIV, December 1st is every day of the year.
Those of us who choose to be visible are neither better nor worse than those who choose not to be. But our visibility contributes something immense. Someone has to do it now, just as others did before. Imagine if it were the opposite, if we had all stayed silent. What situation would we be in? Who would have spoken out, taken to the streets, remembered the first victims, preserved their legacy, demanded health policies? Someone has to do it, for those who did. Also for those who never will.

Author biography
Gustavo Pecoraro (Mar del Plata, 1965) is a writer, screenwriter, journalist, and poet. He has published five books, two essays, and three poetry collections. Some of his poems were included in La lira marica. Una antología de poesía homoerótica argentina (Saraza, 2022). He has contributed to the Soy supplement of Página 12, La Garganta Poderosa, Casa País, Cosecha Roja, and numerous media outlets. He hosts the podcasts Puto viejo, Aquí me pongo a contar, and Zona de respuestas. He is co-screenwriter of the documentary El puto inolvidable. Vida de Carlos Jáuregui, and screenwriter of Luces azules and Marta, vení. He is currently a correspondent from Madrid for Infobae; communications advisor for Fundación Huésped; and advisor in the National Congress on the Women and Diversity Commission. De querer así is his first novel.
