For people living with HIV, December 1st is all 365 days of the year.
Those of us who choose to be visible are neither better nor worse than those who choose not to be. But our visibility brings something immense. Someone has to do it now, just as others did before. Let us imagine if it were otherwise, if we had all remained silent. What situation would we be in? Who would have spoken out, taken to the streets, remembered the first dead, cared for their legacy, demanded health policies? Someone has to do it, for those who did. Also for those who never will.

Author biography
Gustavo Pecoraro (Mar del Plata, 1965) is a writer, scriptwriter, journalist, and poet. He has published five books, two essays, and three poetry collections. Some of his poems were included in La lira marica. An anthology of Argentine homoerotic poetry (Saraza, 2022). He has contributed to the supplement Soy of Página 12, La Garganta Poderosa, Casa País, Cosecha Roja, and numerous media outlets. He hosts the podcasts Puto viejo, Aquí me pongo a contar, and Zona de respuestas. He is co-writer of the documentary El puto inolvidable. Vida de Carlos Jáuregui, and scriptwriter of Luces azules and Marta, vení. Currently, he is a correspondent from Madrid for Infobae; communications advisor for the Huésped Foundation; and advisor in the National Congress on the Commission of Women and Diversity. De querer así is his first novel.
