Description
On March 7, 2025, it was the 50th anniversary of Young Americans, the iconic album by David Bowie where he embraced soul with his style called Plastic Soul. Recorded between Philadelphia and New York alongside artists such as John Lennon, Luther Vandross, and Carlos Alomar, the record includes the hit “Fame,” his first number one in the U.S.
Throughout its 8 tracks, Bowie delves into warmer and more rhythmic sounds, moving away from the glam rock of his previous works. Songs like “Young Americans” and “Win” reflect his fascination with African American culture and show a social awareness uncommon in his discography up to that point.
Influenced by the Philly Sound, Bowie reinvented his sound and appearance with the character The Gouster, reflecting a radical artistic transformation. This commemorative edition has been remastered from the original tapes at 192 kHz and cut at half speed for vinyl, offering superior sound fidelity.
