MISERIA
Miseria is the second novel by Dolores Reyes, a direct continuation of Cometierra and one of the most powerful works of recent Latin American literature. Told in two voices, between Cometierra and Miseria, it immerses us in a story marked by violence, poverty, and female bonds as a form of resistance.
Set in the Greater Buenos Aires, the novel combines magical realism, thriller, and social critique, and revisits the protagonist’s gift for searching for missing persons in a wounded but still hopeful Argentina.
Recognized by The New York Times, El País, and El Cultural as one of the best novels of 2023, Miseria establishes Dolores Reyes as a key voice in current feminist and Latin American storytelling.
Dolores Reyes (Buenos Aires, 1978) is a writer, teacher, and feminist activist. With Cometierra (2019) she gained international recognition and, with this second novel, she delves deeper into family ties and social conflict from the female experience.
