Pop art burst onto the scene in the 1960s to shake the foundations of what we had understood until then as “art” and “culture.” This creative revolution not only challenged established tastes but also questioned consumer society, the cult of fame, and even the role of the artist, incorporating what was previously considered vulgar, trivial, or mass-produced.

Inspired by advertising, comics, Hollywood celebrities, and even supermarket packaging (yes, Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s soup cans), pop art did not just celebrate these popular and kitsch images but also adopted mass production processes and mechanized techniques like screen printing. In doing so, it blurred the myth of the unique artist and questioned the value of the “original” work.

This book brings together the major names of the movement such as Andy Warhol, Allen Jones, Ed Ruscha, Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein; to show you the diversity, energy, and influence of one of the most decisive movements in modern art. An essential journey that will make you see with new eyes how the tacky, the trivial, and the commercial burst into the art scene to transform it forever.
