PUPI POISSON (CD)
The album that brings together the best of Pupi Poisson, one of the most iconic singers and drag queen artists in Spain and the only one who has been present in every edition of Drag Race España. Besides shining on television, Pupi has had a remarkable career in Madrid’s nightlife and has toured all over Spain with her tour, performing at parties, stages, and Pride events in all the communities.
We will always remember her great hit Crisis, which marked a key moment in her career. This track is not included in the album. The song is a parody that Pupi Poisson made in 2010 of the song Womanizer by Britney Spears, adapting it to reflect the economic situation in Spain at that time. The renowned Enrique Ramil, awarded the Gaviota for Best International Performer at the Viña del Mar Festival (2024), participated in the backing vocals, and the music video features the actress Joséle Román.
Another iconic track is Putón Verbenero, also not included in the album, it is a reinvention of the classic Porompompero by Manolo Escobar that Pupi Poisson released in 2015. The music video for this song caused controversy when it was removed from YouTube at the request of a well-known beer brand that did not want to associate its brand with a drag queen. An episode that sparked great debate in the LGTBIQ+ community and highlighted the challenges queer artists face when breaking molds and stereotypes. Far from stopping her, this incident reaffirmed her commitment to authenticity and diversity, values that resonate in every song of this work.
It is important to highlight that both songs are not included in the album Pupi Poisson. However, they are two key pieces of her career that we can enjoy exclusively in her live performances.
Pupi Poisson is not just an artist, she is an icon who has marked a before and after in drag art and queer music in Spain and worldwide. This album celebrates her creativity and legacy, including collaborations with Supreme Deluxe, Tavi Gallart, Conchita Pelayo, and Chumina Power, offering a unique show and musical experience.
