Spice
Remastered reissue on 180-gram vinyl of the debut album Spice, originally released in November 1996. This record launched the Spice Girls —Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, and Victoria Beckham— to international fame, becoming a global pop phenomenon and the visible face of the "Girl Power" movement.
With the first single "Wannabe", which reached number one in more than 37 countries, and other hits like Say You’ll Be There and 2 Become 1, Spice became the best-selling album by an all-female musical group, with more than 24 million copies sold.
The success of Spice was immediate and overwhelming. In 1997, the Spice Girls received the BRIT Award for Best British Single for Wannabe and the Best British Pop Act, as well as being recognized as Best Group at the MTV Europe Music Awards. A year later, in 1998, the album was awarded Best Pop/Rock Album at the American Music Awards, consolidating its international status. They even achieved a Guinness record as the female group with the most consecutive number ones in the United Kingdom, with a total of seven.
Beyond the awards, Spice left an indelible mark on music and pop culture. It revitalized British pop in the late 90s, introducing the slogan "Girl Power" as a message of female empowerment that crossed borders. Their combination of catchy melodies, strong personalities, and visionary marketing redefined how a musical group was presented. They inspired a whole generation of young people and paved the way for future pop stars like Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, or Little Mix.
